Garrett Layton

Adjunct Professor

As the director of digital media for Canisius Athletics, Garrett Layton manages the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network productions in conjunction with ESPN. He also produces video content for GoGriffs.com and the athletic department’s social media outlets. As assistant director of digital media from August 2015 to November 2016, he helped implement the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network. He was also instrumental in transitioning men’s and women’s basketball live-broadcasts from standard to high-definition. 

Before joining Canisius, he spent a year at the University of Hartford working as an athletics communications assistant in video production. At Hartford, he directed and produced athletic contests for AmericaEast.tv, and also produced video content for HartfordHawks.com. A native of  Rochester, New York, he graduated from Medaille College in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. As an adjunct professor, he teaches classes in sports field production, connecting Canisius students with valuable hands-on experience working for the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network.
