Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the Richard J. Wehle School of Business (WSB) at Canisius College. Wehle offers distinguished bachelor’s and master’s programs as well as executive education through the college’s Center for Professional Development.

We pursue excellence in all that we do, and that commitment shows in the strength of our programs and students. Our accounting students have consistently achieved some of the highest CPA exam pass rates in the nation, and regularly finish first in New York State. Our finance students have the opportunity to be fund managers in the Golden Griffin Fund, a program where they actively manage an investment portfolio valued at $400,000. For the past six years, these students have competed in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge, an elite international competition for finance students, and have placed first in New York four times and first in the world in 2015. Students in our Enactus program have regularly won regional competitions and have placed high in national competitions. Our Entrepreneurship students who are supported by an advisory board of successful entrepreneurs, have won the best chapter award in national competitions five times. And our American Marketing Association student chapter has been recognized nationally as a “Chapter of Distinction” for its professional development programming.

The WSB benefits from hundreds successful alumni who lead businesses and other organizations that have a profound impact on the lives of others and on economic development throughout the region. The WSB is also directly engaged with the external business community through its two external-facing centers. For over 40 years, the Center for Professional Development (CPD) has been dedicated to providing lifelong professional education, developing workforce talent and promoting education in our community. The CPD offers a wide array of business seminars, custom training, and consulting, and has delivered its program to scores of firms and thousands of employees. The Women’s Business Center (WBC) is the region’s most comprehensive resource for business and professional women. Through its support from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the WBC offers a variety of programs and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses.

As part of our Jesuit tradition, students in the Wehle School of Business are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others while gaining valuable, real-world business experience through course-based service learning projects. These projects allow students to contribute to the economic development and quality of life in the region, by working directly with charitable, human service, civic and cultural organizations as well as small businesses.

The Wehle School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, the premier accrediting agency for business programs in the world. We have been accredited longer than any other private business school in Western New York.

We invite you to explore our website, and then schedule a time to meet with us in person to learn more about the Richard J. Wehle School of Business and all we have to offer.
