Professor Nancy Roberts brings over 30 years of classroom and literacy instruction experience to her courses at Canisius University. She began her career as an elementary teacher before transitioning to a K-12 literacy specialist.

Professor Roberts has taught within the private sector and in the public schools system and places a high value on both experiences. During the past several years, she has presented on literacy education for the American Reading Association and for New York State.

Professor Roberts has written two texts on literacy relating to the FIVES comprehension strategy and writing to respond with her co-author, Dr. Mary Shea. Both have presented to area schools and to the Nebraska Education School system.

Professor Roberts has found teaching at Canisius over the past 23 years to be a blessing and an ongoing extension to her own education in research and applications in assisting both school children and the future literacy educators who will benefit them.
