Applied Nutrition

Graduate: Master's

School of Education & Human Services

Applied nutrition emphasizes the role of diet in promoting good health, including applying the science of nutrition to the treatment and prevention of disease. A master’s degree in applied nutrition opens the door to many career options, including management or administrative positions in schools and with healthcare, government and community organizations.

Program Description

The Applied Nutrition program has two specialty tracks that are offered in a fully online format structured to fit your busy lifestyle as a working professional. Choose one of two concentrations – Obesity and Eating Disorders or Fitness and Sports Nutrition.

The program for either track combines academic research with practical training to strengthen your career. You will learn to conduct dietetic research and evaluate nutritional programs while building a firm base of theoretical knowledge. By graduation, you will be ready to assume a management or administrative position, applying nutritional understanding to further your career. The online program can be completed in as little as one year with start dates in the fall, spring or summer.

Note: This degree does not yield (nor is it a route to obtain) RD (Registered Dietitian) status. It will NOT qualify students to sit for the RD licensing exam upon completion.
