Applying for Department Research Positions

Due Date: Noon, Monday, January 31, 2022

Where to Submit: By email to Dr. Sheridan: @email

This application must be completed by ALL students interested in doing research, including those who have already performed research with a Canisius faculty member. If a professor agrees to work with you, you will need to then submit a Canisius Earning Excellence Program (CEEP) application, which will provide you a stipend for summer research.

Department research applications will be reviewed in a timely manner by the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. We will consider your research interests, career goals, and previous experience (including relevant courses) to decide if a good match may be made within the Department. In general, your chances of finding placement will be enhanced if you are willing to work on a wider range of projects. It is ADVANTAGEOUS to have contacted your preferred faculty member prior to submitting this application. If research positions are available and adequate matches can be made, faculty will contact students directly by the end of February. Students conducting research are REQUIRED to present their work at Ignatian Scholarship Day and the Department Undergraduate Research Symposium.  Students who are not matched with Canisius faculty are encouraged to pursue off campus research opportunities.
