The Alumnae Study Club

The Alumnae Study Club meets on the third Thursday of the Month from September through April. Established over sixty years ago, when Canisius began accepting female students, the club provides a source of enrichment and friendship to educate women who are interested in expanding their knowledge of "hot topics."

Some of the topics recently covered were: Stem Cells and Cloning, Understanding Catholicism, The Theology of Mary, and Morality and the Environment (based on Thomas Berry’s book Evening Thoughts). Topics of broader interest such as Mapping the Human Genome, presented by Norma Nowak, Ph.D. and Music and the Mind, presented by BPO Conductor Jo Ann Falletta, have been offered with a luncheon away from Campus.

A Mass of Thanksgiving is celebrated at Loyola Hall in May to conclude the study year. Currently, Fr. William McCurdy, S.J. is Moderator of the Sunday Club. Lunch on Campus follows the Mass. All Alumnae are cordially invited to join.
