Stay Safe, Stay on Campus
We are all in this together.
As we plan for the Spring 2021 semester, the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and their families remains the college’s top priority and continues to lead decision-making regarding the safety protocols on campus.
To the greatest extent that the public health situation permits, we will seek to teach our students in person and on campus. While we cannot make accurate predictions today about the state of Covid-19 in the months ahead, we are proceeding with all the necessary planning for the start of our Spring 2021 semester on February 5, 2021.
Canisius College’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic is and will continue to be guided by local orders and ordinances of the city of Buffalo and Erie County, as well as the State of New York’s guidelines for responsible operations. The college’s approach is rooted in our core value of cura personalis and incarnated in our emphasis on protecting staff, faculty, students, invited guests (e.g., contractors) and the public with whom we interact. Policies, protocols, and procedures will focus on slowing the spread of the disease and protecting the health of every member of our community by adherence to recommendations set forth by federal, state and local health officials.
Making the Canisius College campus safe is a shared commitment and so Canisius has required that every member of our community take the Griff Pledge, which demonstrates that we are all working together to protect one another from Covid-19. Additionally, any member of the community who comes onto the campus must sign the Griff Pledge prior to coming to campus for the start of the academic year. Failure to sign the Griff Pledge will be considered a violation of the college’s community standards.
Campus community members are also required to complete a Daily Health Assessment, which informs a designated team of anyone who has symptoms or was exposed to someone potentially infected, and enables the college to contain, monitor and track illness. A mobile app, Campus Clear, is also vailable for student use. Students are encouraged to utilize this daily self-monitoring tool whenever they are on campus.
