The Canisius College Board of Regents honored Chris Koch, President and CEO of New Era Cap, as the 2017 Distinguished Citizen at the Regents Scholarship Ball on May 6, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
Chris Koch, President and CEO of New Era Cap Co. Inc., has been a champion of this community as his family’s business has been located in Western New York since 1920. Under his direction, New Era has grown to become one of the region’s largest private companies, now employing more than 2,000 people globally, with 17 offices, producing over 50 million hats a year.
The Regents Ball provides a wonderful opportunity to honor individuals, such as Chris Koch, who have made outstanding contributions to Western New York while also raising vital funds for the Board of Regents Endowed Scholarship Fund. The Fund affords deserving students the opportunity to stay the course to personal and professional success despite financial challenges. Since its inception, it has awarded approximately $800,000 to 35 promising Canisius students. Thanks to the support of alumni and friends like you, this year’s event raised a record amount of more than $180,000!

"None of this would be possible without the scholarship support you are helping to provide tonight. I have seen the life I would have lived without a Canisius education. Know that Canisius fulfills its mission every day and that I am committed to living a life of excellence, service, and leadership - one that will resonate with others, like me, who never believed they had a chance." - Vance Stinson '16 - 2016 Regents Ball Student Speaker
