Faculty Resources

The Griff Center for Academic Engagement provides, arranges, and coordinates accommodations for students in courses, programs, services, activities, and facilities. Accessibility Support is the designated office that obtains and files disability related documents, verifies eligibility for services, determines reasonable accommodations, and develops plans for the provision of such accommodations for students with disabilities.

Our mission is to serve the needs of all qualified Canisius students with disabilities. Our goals are to:

  • Coordinate and provide reasonable accommodations.
  • Advocate responsibly for an accessible and holistic learning environment, through removal of informational, physical, and attitudinal barriers.
  • Promote self-advocacy and self-determination, while reinforcing personal responsibility.

In post-secondary settings, it is the student's responsibility to request accommodations, if desired. It is important to remember that not every student with a disability needs or wants accommodations. It is equally important to remember that even though two individuals may have the same disability, they may not need or want the same accommodation.
