Students who are accepted for transfer admission to Canisius are automatically evaluated for an academic merit scholarship. Transfer scholarships are based on college GPA. Transfer scholarship amounts range from $2,000 to $7,500.
Transfer students possessing a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA are automatically reviewed for a merit scholarship. No application is required.
In addition to the general scholarships offered to prospective transfer students in the 2019-2020 academic year, Canisius College has continued its commitment to affordable education with scholarship awards for students with special interests:
Army ROTCCanisius participates in the Army ROTC program which offers scholarships to college-bound students interested in military service.
The Army ROTC Scholarship can be used for either full tuition & fees, or as room & board scholarship, it also provides a book stipend, and a subsistence (living allowance) while enrolled in college. There are several types of scholarships available.
High school students can begin the application process following their junior year in high school and have until January 10th of their senior year to initiate an application. If you have questions about the application process, contact 716-888-3239.
Art History ScholarshipThe Art History Program at Canisius College offers art history scholarships for new, full-time students entering Fall 2020 semester and planning to major in art history.
Students who demonstrate an interest in studying the history of art are eligible for $1,500 per year. These scholarships are in addition to merit scholarships and are renewable for four years.
-Admission to Canisius College as a full-time student for Fall 2020.
-Letter of application from the student, describing extent of experience with art history and outlining reasons for planning to minor in the discipline. (Note: there is no separate application form.)
-Two letters of recommendation from teachers, including one that discusses the student's exposure to and experience with art history.
-Interview, either in person or by phone, with the Canisius art history faculty. Interviews will be arranged after other scholarship materials are received.
-Score of three or above on the Advanced Placement Art History exam.
-Grade of B or above in a high school art history course. Students who receive art history scholarships will be expected to minor in art history, to maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 and to participate in art history activities, including active participation in art history events presented by ArtsCanisius.

Canisius College Science Scholars ProgramThe Science Scholars Program looks to increase the success of students interested in scientific careers in the field(s) of research, academia, government, and/or industry.
Students who are accepted into the program have the opportunity to join a learning community with regular extra-curricular activities. These students will also have access to specialty seminar courses that focus on preparing students for research placements as well as graduate school and/or employment. Finally, qualifying students also have the opportunity to access funding for research and travel to a research conference.
Qualifying students are awarded up to $9,000 per year in need-based scholarship support
-Biology, Environmental Science and Animal Behavior Ecology and Conservation majors planning to attend graduate school, or seek employment in a science-related field.
-Incoming Transfer Students with a 2.7 GPA or better

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation: Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship for top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor's degrees is the largest private scholarship for community college transfer students in the country. The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to each of approximately 85 deserving students selected annually.
Music ScholarshipThe Music Program at Canisius College offers many opportunities for students to stay involved in music. The scholarship is intended to encourage students to continue performing in an ensemble as part of their college experience.
A student can minor in music or take music as an elective. Performing ensembles, private instrumental and voice lessons and music courses are open to all students. Scholarship recipients are able to take private instrumental or voice lessons FREE OF CHARGE.
$1500 scholarships are available to incoming freshman and transfer students. The scholarships are in addition to merit awards and are renewable for four years. It is not necessary to be a music major or music minor to apply (See criteria and conditions below.)
-Admission to Canisius College as a full-time student for Fall 2020
-High school music performance experience (solo or ensemble)
-Scholarship application and reference letters
-Vocal: Two contrasting styles of music (two classical or one classical and one musical theater; accompaniment required).
-Instrumental: Two contrasting styles of music (selections of movements or etudes are acceptable); major and minor scales.
Include two letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters should be from a music teacher. Other suggested sources include a high school principal, teacher, guidance counselor, and community or church leader.
Applicants will be invited on campus for an audition held on Saturday February 8, 2020 (you will be notified of your scheduled audition time). The scholarship committee will make a final selection of scholarship recipients. (Students residing outside a 300-mile radius may audition by CD following criteria for solo auditions above.) -Maintain a GPA of 2.5
-Active participation in a Canisius College performance ensemble.
-Active membership in Music Scholars Club/Attendance at club meetings.
-Usher at ArtsCanisius events during the academic year. (Once or twice per semester on average.)

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship / Alpha Beta Gamma Scholarship
Transfer students with a 3.0 Q.P.A. and proof of induction. Students may receive only one of either the Alpha Beta Gamma or the Phi Theta Kappa scholarships. Either of these awards can be received in addition to the Canisius Transfer Scholarships.
$2,000 per year based upon merit. Awards are renewable for a total of six undergraduate semesters, provided the student maintains good academic standing and full-time status.
How to apply
Students are automatically considered for this scholarship upon acceptance for admission. No separate application is required. All students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA to be considered for need-based aid.
Studio Art ScholarshipThe Studio Art Program at Canisius College offers scholarships for students entering Canisius in the Fall 2020 semester and planning to minor in Studio Art.
$1,500 scholarships are available to incoming freshman and transfer students. Scholarships are in addition to merit awards and are renewable for 4 years.
- Admission to Canisius College as full-time student for Fall 2020
- Completed application.
- Link to an online portfolio (with password, if password protected) OR Flash drive of 15 labeled (your name, size, media, date created) works in any medium created within the last two years.
Two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or community and/or church leaders. One of the two letters should be from an art teacher familiar with the applicant's work who can comment on the student's developing art skills.
After review of completed application by the scholarship committee, students will be notifed by mail.
-Maintain a 2.5 GPA
-Enter Canisius College with the intent to minor in Studio Art

Alumni Grant$1,000 per year up to four years of full-time undergraduate study.
Applicant must be the child of an alumnus and accepted for admission. No separate application is required.
