The Canisius University Chapter of the American Marketing Association

The Canisius University Chapter of the American Marketing Association (CCAMA) is a professional student organization and one of nearly 300 student chapters nationwide.  The AMA has recognized the Canisius Chapter with numerous awards in the past several years, including its Outstanding Community Service Award, its Outstanding Professional Development Award, and first place awards in the exhibit competition.

“In just a few years, the students in the Canisius University AMA Chapter have proven themselves on the national scene and in competitions against student chapters from much larger and better-known schools,” says Dr. David Snyder, Associate Professor of Marketing and one of the organization's faculty advisors. “They have set a very high standard of excellence and leadership for our student organizations.”

The Canisius AMA holds monthly meetings during which speakers from local businesses talk about various aspects of marketing.  Each semester, they participate in a day-in-the-field with the Buffalo chapter of the Sales and Marketing Executives group.  Five students from Canisius are selected to participate in this day-long event.  The group also sponsors tours of area business organizations, participates in community service, and provides professional development workshops and seminars as part of its "Backpacks to Briefcases" program.  The highlight of the year is participation in the National Collegiate Conference of the American Marketing Association (AMA) held each April in New Orleans, LA.

The national AMA organization has designed the Canisius organization as "a chapter of distinction" because of its high caliber programming, exemplary performance and continued success in national marketing competitions.  For up-to-date news and information about the Canisius University AMA organization, visit their Facebook page:
