Canadian Graduate Student Scholarship

Canisius University offers a special tuition scholarship for Canadian graduate students. This scholarship helps reduce costs and makes graduate education more accessible. 

Scholarship Criteria

  • Applicants must be incoming new graduate students entering Canisius University in the spring of 2026 or after.
  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants must be admitted to a graduate program at Canisius University.

Scholarship Conditions

  • The Canadian Graduate Student Tuition Scholarship provides a 25% tuition discount.
  • The scholarship applies to tuition only and does not cover fees, housing, meal plans, books, health insurance, or other non-tuition expenses.
  • The scholarship is available to both full-time and part-time graduate students.
  • The scholarship is not retroactive and cannot be applied to any semester prior to Spring 2026.
  • The scholarship is valid for the duration of the student’s graduate degree, subject to continued eligibility.
  • To remain eligible, recipients must maintain good academic standing and a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0.
  • The scholarship is non-transferable and has no cash value.
  • If a student receives a second Canisius scholarship offer of greater or equal value (upgraded offer), the subsequent offer replaces the initial offer. If a recipient receives multiple scholarship offers, the highest-value scholarship will be assigned.
  • The combination of all scholarships (internal and external) may not exceed the student’s Cost of Attendance (COA) at Canisius University.

Application Process

  • Applicants must apply for admission to a graduate program at Canisius University.
  • No separate scholarship application is required.
  • Scholarship consideration is automatic and based on academic merit at the time of admission review.

Renewal Process

  • Renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon:
  • Continued enrollment in an eligible graduate program
  • Maintain good academic standing
  • Students must meet all renewal criteria to retain the scholarship for subsequent semesters.
