Mission and Identity

Canisius, a Catholic and Jesuit university, educates the whole person by caring for the mind, body, and spirit of the individual. Our educational mission opens students and colleagues to the breadth and depth of intellectual inquiry rooted in faith and reason. Steeped in Jesuit ideals, people of faith and goodwill deepen their spiritual lives. We go out into the world and learn to stand in solidarity with others. All together, these experiences transform our community of learners into thoughtful, faithful, and compassionate global citizens and leaders.

The Office of Mission and Identity promotes the deeper understanding and invites the active engagement of the entire Canisius University community, across all our faith traditions and human ideals, in living our university’s Catholic, Jesuit educational mission.
