Living on the ABEC learning floor connected me with classmates, built a tight-knit community, and kept me constantly involved in campus activities and clubs. Residence life pushed me to become more independent—learning practical life skills, practicing empathy, and relying on supportive resources like an engaged RA who keeps us informed and cared for.
Because of these experiences, I feel confident, prepared to live on my own after graduation, and eager to advise future first-years to reach out, get involved, and build friendships early

Living on campus taught me how to live independently, solve problems on my own, and grow from real-life challenges beyond the classroom. Serving as a student leader in housing sharpened my leadership skills, pushed me to manage responsibilities, and taught me to lead with empathy and perspective. Being surrounded by supportive staff and Public Safety, and staying involved in events with friends, made my college experience enriching, secure, and deeply connected.

Living on campus gave me the chance to build real friendships, join clubs I might’ve skipped, and experience a true sense of community just by knocking on a friend’s door. It helped me grow socially and academically, easily accessing campus resources, study groups, and events that shaped my success and confidence. The relationships I’ve formed here, especially with my RA and roommate, have had such a lasting impact that I know they’ll carry with me well beyond graduation.
