On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, we welcome you to the Canisius family. As you begin this new and exciting journey, we invite you to become more acquainted with Canisius and follow the steps below to get started on the next step of your academic career.

 

Accept Your Offer of Admission

To accept your admission offer, refer to the instructions provided in your acceptance email and submit your admission deposit. Once complete, you will be eligible to register for classes when registration opens. 

Make a Deposit

If required, you can submit your deposit in the following ways:

- Make a credit card payment online (using the username/password provided in your acceptance email)

- Make a credit card payment by phone by calling the Office of Student Records & Financial Services at 888-2600 (local) or toll free at 800-238-8160. 

Register for Classes

Once you have accepted the offer of admission for your program, you are eligible to register for classes. Click here for registration instructions.

Web Technology Resources for Graduate Students

The Center for Online Learning & Innovation will offer the following information sessions via Zoom:

Graduate Student Information Technology Session

Whether face-to-face or online, graduate education at Canisius makes extensive use of internet tools and services.  Come learn about the core information technologies you will use at Canisius.  Begin the semester confident in your use of Canisius Gmail, D2L, the MyCanisius Portal, and other tools for your success!

Complete Immunization Record Form
On-campus and hybrid programs only

Graduate students registered for 6 or more credit hours attending class on-campus are required by New York State to submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella and submit proof of either meningitis vaccination or a signed waiver declining vaccination prior to the first day of classes. Vaccinations are available in the Student Health Center at the college for a fee. To view New Graduate Student Health Requirements, click here.

Non-Canadian international students, studying on an F1 Visa are also required to submit a completed physical examination prior to the start of class. The physical examination and immunization form must be completed in English and signed by you and your health care provider. International students can also obtain a physical examination and immunizations in the Student Health Center upon arrival at the college, for a fee. To view New International Student Health Requirements, click here.

Students can now email Student Health using the @email or call the Student Health office at 716-888-2610 to get more information on health requirements or to ask questions.

Student I.D. Cards

An identification card is issued to every student entering Canisius College. Cards may be obtained through Public Safety located in the lower level of Bosch Hall. When you go to Public Safety to obtain your student ID, make sure to bring your student number with you. This number is on the second page of your acceptance letter. I.D. cards can be used for a variety of services on campus, including: the library, dining services, vending machines, laundry services, fitness facilities, and building access.

Outstanding Admissions Requirements

Review your acceptance packet for outstanding admissions requirements. Your acceptance letter includes items that you must submit in order to fulfill your admission requirements and/or prerequisite coursework.

Failure to submit outstanding items like official transcripts and test scores we result in a registration hold placed on your account. 

Submit Official Transcripts

Official transcripts: in order for a transcript to be considered “official” it must be sent directly from the school to Canisius and have your degree listed with date awarded.

Refer to your admissions acceptance packet to see if this is an outstanding requirement. 

How to Access Your Canisius Email

Login to your MyCanisius account

On the left side of the page you will see the Navigation Bar, listed under the Navigation Bar is the Launchpad. Under the Launchpad you will see the other subgroups. Choose the green section labeled My Applications

Select the option labeled Gmail

It is very important that you check your account regularly as this is how your professors will be in contact with you

How to Access Desire2Learn (D2L)

Login to your MyCanisius account

On the left side of the page you will see the Navigation Bar, listed under the Navigation Bar is the Launchpad. Choose the green section labeled My Applications

Select the option labeled Desire2Learn

When the page opens, the classes you are registered for will be listed on the left side with a D2L introduction video on the right side
