Post-Graduate Year of Service

The first year out of college is, in many ways, the ideal time to take a gap year through service before moving on to graduate school or your first job.

 

Here are some of the benefits of yearlong service:

 

  • You’ll receive room and board plus a living stipend
  • You’ll receive health insurance coverage
  • You can defer your student loans
  • You might be eligible for the Segal Education Award, which you can use toward future student loan repayments or graduate school
  • You’ll gain hands-on experience working on issues around faith and justice
  • You’ll have a chance to live in a new place and collaborate with people who share your passion for service
  • You’ll strengthen critical career and life skills such as communication, problem-solving and cultural competency
  • You’ll gain valuable life experience before transitioning to medical school, law school or a graduate program
