BUFFALO, NY – Canisius College and SUNY Erie Community College (SUNY Erie) signed a Dual Admissions Agreement which allows qualified students to complete their associate’s degrees at SUNY Erie and continue their coursework at Canisius, where they can earn bachelor’s degrees in an additional two years.
“We are excited about this partnership with SUNY Erie,” said Sara Morris, PhD, associate vice president for academic affairs. “Together, we will provide a seamless transfer between institutions to create educational and career pathways for students.”
“Our goal at SUNY Erie is to provide our students with opportunities to enhance their future career choices,” said Richard Washousky, SUNY Erie provost and executive vice president. “This collaboration with Canisius College serves to further the options available to our graduates by providing them with a solid path to a 4-year degree.”
Students must complete specific academic majors and receive their associate’s degrees to be eligible to continue their studies at Canisius in parallel baccalaureate degree programs. Full-time students currently enrolled at SUNY Erie, and those admitted to begin their studies at SUNY Erie from September 2018 to May 2023, are eligible to be considered under this articulation agreement.
The agreement allows students to earn 34 different associate’s degrees and transfer to Canisius to major in degree programs from all three of the college’s schools – College of Arts and Sciences, Richard J. Wehle School of Business, and the School of Education and Human Services. Programs include economics, communication studies, computer science, criminal justice, creative writing, finance, health and wellness, management, marketing, psychology, political science, and physical education sport studies.
