Editor's Note | Volume 7, No. 1, 2026
Dr. Joshua Russell (Hosting Editor): Welcome to Sloth's new home at Canisius University. We are excited to be hosting this journal for "emerging voices" in Human-Animal Studies. As a former Animals & Society Institute Fellow and contributor to some of its programs, I was saddened to learn that ASI was closing its doors. I was also honored that Ken Shapiro and the ASI team reached out to me to see if Canisius and the Anthrozoology program would be interested in hosting the journal moving forward. As we closed down our own former journal Animalia, which was run by graduate students, this new venture presented an exciting opportunity to continue provide a place for both undergraduate and graduate students to learn about research, scholarship, editing, and to publish their work. As new articles role out in Volume 7, I invite you to also look at past volumes to see the abundance of interesting, interdisciplinary scholarship that has been published since the journal's start in 2015.
