What is NUFP?

The NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP) is an opportunity for undergraduate students who are interested in, or seek more insight, into a career in higher education and student affairs. If you have an interest in working at a university in an administrative role (e.g., Student Success, Athletics, Residence Life, Student Life, Admissions), then NUFP is a great opportunity to explore and learn about the professional field and educational pathways.

What are the benefits of the Fellows Program?

  3. Graduate school application support
  4. Opportunities for summer internships and participation in the Dungy Leadership Institute (DLI)
  5. Low time-commitment (monthly cohort meetings)

What are the expectations for participation?

  • Attend monthly cohort meetings (November-April)
  • An open mind to explore the various career pathways in higher education and student affairs, including but not limited to:
    • Academic Advising
    • Admissions
    • Alumni Engagement
    • Career Services
    • Housing and Residential Life
    • Greek Affairs
    • Intercollegiate Athletics
    • International Student Affairs
    • Multicultural Affairs
    • Student Activities/Involvement/Government

I remember guest speakers visiting my cohort during monthly meetings and not only sharing their journeys in higher education but also the complexities and responsibilities of both their past and current positions, from team management to operating during a pandemic. My favorite part of being a NUFP fellow was attending the Dungy Leadership Institute, where students who all shared a passion for higher education nationwide came together for 5 days to network, collaborate on various tasks, and learn about the field from varying perspectives.”
