Free Tuition for Eligible New York State Students
The New York Promise Scholarship covers 100% of remaining undergraduate tuition for eligible New York State students from households with an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less.
For students enrolling at Canisius in fall 2027, that means the opportunity to earn a private university education with $0 remaining tuition after federal and state financial aid is applied.
Do You Qualify for the New York Promise?
You may qualify if you:
- Live in New York State outside a ZIP code beginning with 142
- Live in a household with an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less
- Apply to and are admitted regular decision as a first-year undergraduate student for fall 2027
How to Receive the New York Promise
There is no separate scholarship application.
- Apply to Canisius for fall 2027.
- Complete the FAFSA using Canisius code 002681.
- Complete your TAP application using Canisius code 0090.
Eligible students will automatically be considered for the New York Promise.

An Extra $4,000 for Completing the FAFSA
Students who complete the FAFSA can also receive a $1,000 Canisius scholarship each year for four years ($4,000 total).
