Council on Accountancy
The Council on Accountancy is a group of more than 50 accounting and financial executives who serve as advisors to our accounting department. The group works closely with our faculty to develop new programs and courses, provide mentoring and professional opportunities for students, and recruit future business majors.
Here’s how the Council on Accountancy gives our students a competitive edge:
- Helped create an endowment of over $4 million toward scholarships for scholarships for accounting upperclassmen and graduate students.
- Hosts the Accounting Experience program, which offers opportunities for paid summer work in public accounting, industry, financial institutions and government
- Organizes professional networking breakfasts and mock job interviews
- Assists with job placement for graduates
Our reputation for excellence in business has opened the door to partnerships with 3,600 companies and organizations within Western New York and throughout the Northeast. Events such as Meet the Accountants Night and the annual Accountants Banquet leverage these connections, putting soon-to-be-graduates in touch with potential employers.
