ArtsCanisius fills the calendar with concerts, exhibits and other arts events for the college community and the public. Students and faculty members are featured in our galleries and performance venues, along with artists from across the region. The celebrated Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performs at least one concert on campus every year, as well as recitals with Canisius faculty. Canisius Music Scholars assist with planning and promoting all the events. All events are subject to change and cancellation due to the College’s, state, and regional safety guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tradition of the Canisius connection with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra continues with the annual BPO performance in the Montante Cultural Center. Due to Covid-19 closures, the April 14th Informally Formal recital featuring Janz Castelo has been postponed indefinitely.
This also includes the Informally/Formal Chamber Recital Series with BPO musicians which includes an intimate setting where BPO musicians share their favorite chamber works through stories and music. Individual concert tickets for this series are $15 general admission, $7 students, faculty and staff and are available online.
Performance opportunities abound for Canisius students. This series features the Canisius College chorale, orchestra, and jazz ensembles in concert as well as solo performances by Canisius students.
Art History Events
Every semester, the art program brings in distinguished scholars to present their works to our community. We are also fortunate to be able to draw upon the expertise of our own faculty members as part of the Fine Arts Meet-the-Faculty series. This can include lectures, documentary viewings and discussions and much more.
These events bring renowned guest artists to the college campus.
This series features members of the Canisius Fine Arts Department faculty in recitals, lectures and art exhibits.
