Canisius University is committed to offering student health insurance that provides access to quality health care. We are pleased to offer the Canisius University Student Health Insurance Plan (CC-SHIP).
All undergraduate registered fulltime Domestic students of Canisius University taking 12 or more credits are required to have health insurance coverage, either through this Student Health Plan or through another individual or family plan.
Eligible students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Plan at registration, and the premium is added to the student's tuition fees unless proof of comparable coverage is provided by completing the waiver.
Steps for completing the Student Health Insurance Waiver (spring 2026 waiver deadline is 01/23/2026):

Enter Canisius University, plan year 2025-26, and plan type Domestic Medical.
First-time users: You will need to “Create an Account”. Please create an account using your @canisius.edu university email address (do not include my. after the @), your 8-digit ID# (do not include a leading zero), and your date of birth (MM/DD/YYY). Upon creating an account, you will be brought into your Student Portal.
Already Registered: If you have already created an account, enter your email and password to log into the student portal.
All undergraduate international students of Canisius University are required to have health insurance coverage and will be automatically enrolled in this Student Health Plan on August 15th—no need to enroll yourself. The premium is charged to the student’s tuition fees. Students do not have the option to waive coverage. If the student is enrolled for the fall or spring semester only, the student will be charged the premium for that specific semester.
Parttime undergraduate and all graduate (domestic and international) students have the option to enroll in the Canisius Health Insurance coverage. Go here to enroll: www.gallagherstudent.com/Canisius to set up an account and enroll:

The cost of the plan for the 2025-2026 academic year is $1,921 ($1,190 for spring 2026 new starts) with coverage extending from 8/15/25 to 8/14/26. The charge for the 12-month plan will be added to the Fall semester tuition eBill and will be payable by the published tuition payment deadline.
The Gallagher Company will provide confirmation of approved waivers to the student and Student Records and Financial Services Center so that the insurance charge is removed from the student account, usually within 5 business days. If the student does not waive out of the CC-SHIP by the published deadline, the student will be automatically enrolled, be issued an Insurance ID Card, and be fully liable for the charge for the plan that will remain on the student tuition bill. Education loans can be applied to cover the cost of the CC-SHIP premium.
