
Buffalo, NY - Canisius University is pleased to announce that Fatima Rodriguez Johnson MS '98, associate dean of diversity and inclusion, has been recognized by City & State magazine for its first-ever "Trailblazers in Higher Education" list. The recognition celebrates individuals and organizations who are developing groundbreaking platforms, implementing revolutionary programs, advocating for transformative policies, enhancing economic opportunities, and leading the charge toward a better higher education system.
With more than two decades of experience in higher education, Rodriguez Johnson provides leadership, coordination and strategic planning for campus-wide initiatives to advance diversity, equity and inclusion at Canisius University. Her recognition highlights her significant contributions to create a more inclusive higher education environment for current and future generations.
Prior to joining Canisius, Rodriguez Johnson served as associate dean of students for multicultural programs and services at the State University of New York at Geneseo and as director of programming with the National Conference for Community and Justice.
A native of Buffalo, she earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the State University of New York at Fredonia and her master's degree in higher education administration from Canisius University.
