Wehle Business School Honors Alumni for Leadership, Excellence and Service

Business Awards Recipients

BUFFALO, NY – The Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius University conferred two of its most prominent awards upon alumni during a reception held Friday, September 26. Julie Anna Golebiewski '04, PhD, received the Rev. Thomas E. Fleming, SJ, Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes outstanding dedication and service to the institution. Timothy Calkins '02 received the Dr. Bernard L. Martin Award, conferred upon a distinguished graduate of the Wehle School of Business MBA program to recognize exceptional career achievement and commitment to community service. 

Golebiewski is an associate professor of economics and finance and associate dean of the Wehle Business School and the School of Data, Computing and Mathematics at Canisius University. She returned to Canisius in 2015 after working as a senior economist in the public sector and teaches microeconomics, public economics, statistics and analytics courses. She is also a co-author of the Western New York Economic Newsletter.  

Golebiewski holds a BS in finance and economics from Canisius University, and an MA and PhD in economics from Syracuse University.  

Calkins is co-chief investment officer at Nottingham Advisors, an asset management and financial services firm.  In this role, he oversees the development and implementation of investment strategies for a diverse range of clients, including individuals, institutions and retirement plans.  With more than 20 years of experience in the investment management industry, Calkins is also responsible for developing Nottingham’s economic outlook, interest rate expectations and fixed income portfolio positioning.  

He shares his expertise as a member of Buffalo Angels.  Considered a division of the Western New York Venture Association, Buffalo Angels works to elevate the economic growth of the region by proactively increasing the size and sophistication of the angel investors base and the quality of investments in opportunities.  

Calkins holds a BS in finance from Canisius University and is a certified plan fiduciary advisory (CPFA) and certified financial advisor (CFA).
