Buffalo, NY – Canisius University and Syracuse University are pleased to announce a new educational partnership that creates a streamlined 4+2 pathway for Canisius students interested in pursuing advanced degrees in engineering or computer science. The program will be available immediately and enable students who earn a bachelor’s degree from Canisius to seamlessly enroll in select master’s degree programs at Syracuse University, helping students gain access to nationally recognized graduate programs in high-demand, technology-driven fields.

“This partnership directly advances Canisius University’s strategic plan by expanding into emerging, high-demand fields that prepare students to lead in an evolving global marketplace,” said Bridget Niland, JD, PhD, vice president for academic affairs.  “By developing strong academic partnerships like this one with Syracuse University, we are creating clear pathways that connect our students to advanced study and career opportunities in engineering and computer science.”

Under the agreement, eligible Canisius students who complete designated science and mathematics bachelor’s degree programs and meet GPA and other program requirements will receive direct admission to participating master’s programs at Syracuse University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.  Students will benefit from coordinated academic advising at Canisius and a structured transition process designed to support a smooth move into graduate study.

The partnership provides pathways for Canisius students to pursue graduate study in areas such as biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and operations research and system analytics.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality graduate education in engineering and computer science,” added Shikha Nangia, PhD, chair of Syracuse University’s Biomedical and Chemical Engineering Department.  “We are excited to welcome talented Canisius students into our master’s programs and to provide them with the advanced technical training, research opportunities and industry connections that will prepare them to lead in rapidly evolving, technology-driven fields.”
