Buffalo, NY – The Canisius University Accounting Society celebrated three distinguished alumni during its annual banquet on April 23, recognizing professional achievement, leadership and service to the accounting profession and the university community.
David O. Faturos ’92, MBA ’98, CPA, senior vice president of finance at Rich Products Corporation, was named Accountant of the Year. Amanda S. Talty ’02, director in KPMG’s Center for Audit Solutions, Design & Operations, received the Dr. Joseph R. Coppola ’40 Award. Patrick Byrne ’16, MBA ’17, principal specialist in technology and cybersecurity risk at M&T Bank, was honored with the Young Alumni Award, a recognition celebrating emerging leaders in the field.
Faturos has built a distinguished career spanning more than three decades at Rich Products Corporation, where he has held a range of leadership roles in finance, accounting and business development. He most recently served as executive vice president and chief financial officer, providing strategic financial leadership and oversight, before transitioning to his current role as senior vice president of finance.
A graduate of Canisius University’s accounting and MBA programs, Faturos has remained actively engaged with his alma mater through service on the Council of Accountancy and support of academic initiatives.
Talty, a Buffalo native and licensed CPA, has more than 20 years of experience supporting audit teams and clients at KPMG. As a director in the firm’s Center for Audit Solutions, she is known for her collaborative leadership and focus on delivering high-quality, consistent audit practices.
A former president of the Canisius Accounting Society, Talty has remained deeply involved in mentoring students and contributing to professional and community organizations, including the AICPA, NYSSCPA and United Way.
Byrne has developed a career at the intersection of accounting, risk management and cybersecurity. In his role at M&T Bank, he provides oversight across major cybersecurity domains and works to align risk practices with regulatory expectations. He previously served as chief information security officer at Evans Bank.
Byrne is an active leader in the Western New York professional community and maintains strong ties to Canisius through student mentorship and campus engagement.
