A Message from President Stoute

Three years ago, Canisius University set forth an ambitious vision for its future through Answer the Call, a strategic plan grounded in our Jesuit mission and a belief in the transformative power of education.

Today, that vision is taking shape across the university. We are creating new academic pathways to emerging careers, strengthening the support and experiences that help students thrive, investing in the spaces and resources that sustain a vibrant university, and deepening our connections to Buffalo, our alumni and the wider world.

The progress of the past three years demonstrates what is possible when our mission, our ambitions and our community move forward together. As we look ahead, Canisius remains focused on building upon this momentum, advancing academic excellence, strengthening student success and preparing leaders who are ready to answer the call of a changing world.

Pillar 1: Academic Excellence and Innovation

Renew and reimagine the curricula to engage the minds and excite the hearts of students.

Objective: Building New Pathways to High-Demand Careers

Canisius University is expanding into emerging academic fields by forging new partnerships and creating accelerated pathway programs that give students direct access to high-demand graduate and professional careers.  These partnerships offer distinctive, accelerated routes not available at peer institutions - strengthening recruitment while positioning Canisius for long-term academic growth.

Pillar 2: Student Success & Engagement

Build a culture of engagement that supports student success, meaningful human connection, and belonging.

Objective: Supporting the Whole Student

At Canisius, student success begins with caring for the whole person. The university furthered that commitment in recent years by expanding student support services, modernizing campus classrooms and learning environments, and removing academic and financial barriers. These initiatives ensure students have the tools, resources and support they need so they can focus on learning, belonging and becoming the leaders they are called to be.
