Dr. Gregory Wood is a professor of Marketing & Information Systems. During his 30+ year career at Canisius, he’s held several teaching and administrative leadership positions, including department chair, associate dean and chairperson of the Career Center Task Force. Dr. Wood is an active consultant to numerous businesses and NFP organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo from 2004-2009 and the Buffalo/Niagara Business Ethics Association since 2014.

Dr. Wood’s teaching and research are in the areas of consumer behavior and digital marketing. He is the co-author of a successful Information Technology textbook and has published numerous academic articles and conference proceedings. He has received teaching awards for his innovative and engaging teaching methods at the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels. At Canisius, he pioneered the use of online teaching methods using social and multi-media technologies. His work was supported by a generous Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

For over a decade, Dr. Wood has served as an adviser to the Canisius University American Marketing Association (CCAMA) chapter. This professional student organization prepares students for their careers following graduation. Under Wood’s leadership, the CCAMA has competed against students from other prestigious business schools at the International AMA Collegiate Conference. Every year, CCAMA students return from the conference with one or more top awards or prizes based on their competitive performance, a testament to the quality of the marketing education they receive at Canisius University.

  • 2002 - Inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society
  • 2005 - Distinguished Research Award from the Allied Academies International Conference, for the paper, "Evaluating Evaluations: A Review of a Student Evaluation of Faculty Process," by Joseph Glynn, Paul Sauer & Gregory Wood
  • 2013 - James S. Valone/Beta Gamma Sigma (Canisius Chapter) Undergraduate Teaching Award
  • 2015 & 2016 - Grant Award from the Buffalo Niagara Business Ethics Association to fund, “Enhanced Ethics Education for MBA Students”, $1,000 each year.
