Mrs. Jillian Dean is an adjunct professor in the graduate Special Education program. She currently teaches Transition for Adolescents with Disabilities (SPE 649). This year marks Mrs. Dean’s ninth year as an educator, with several certifications across early childhood, childhood, and special education. She most recently earned her seventh certification as a Work-Based Learning Coordinator.

Mrs. Dean has a variety of teaching experiences and has taught both general and special education at the elementary level, and was previously a high school consultant teacher. In 2022, she began her fifth year as the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Coordinator for Lancaster and Clarence High Schools. One of her favorite parts of her job is developing work-based learning opportunities for students, most notably the clothing closets she has created in both schools. Last year, Mrs. Dean and her team were awarded the Hodgson Russ Excellence in Collaboration Award for the Clarence Clothing Closet. She enjoys bringing her daily interactions and experiences with transition into her course.

Education is an extremely powerful career path and Mrs. Dean wants to thank all of the Canisius graduate students who are choosing to enter this challenging, but extremely rewarding profession.
