Professor Laura Howse holds a B.A. and M.A. in History as well as a teaching certification for social studies grade 7-12. She has taught high school social studies for 31 years in the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda School District. She has also held teaching positions at Olean High School and Webutuck Central High School. During her tenure, Professor Howse has taught American History, Global History, Psychology, a Holocaust Elective, and International Baccalaureate Diploma Program World History at the high-school level. She also spent the last 8 years as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Coordinator for Kenmore West High School. Highly involved in staff professional development efforts, Professor Howse served as the district Cooperative Learning Trainer and also taught courses for the district's Staff Development Center.

In addition to her classroom experience, Professor Howse has served as the Writing Center and Study Skills Lab Coordinator at SUNY Buffalo and as a former adjunct professor for Canisius University. Professor Howse returned to her adjunct faculty position at Canisius in Spring 2023 and currently teaches courses in the Adolescence Education Department. 

Professor Howse was awarded the Belfer Scholarship at the Holocaust Museum in D.C. in 2005 and the Freeman Foundation Scholarship trip to Japan and Korea in 2007. She is pleased to be working within the Canisius community once again!
