Campus Drug and Alcohol Policy
The following are prohibited:
- Distribution, possession or use of any illegal drug or controlled substance, or drug paraphernalia.
- Providing alcoholic beverages to individuals under 21 years of age or possession of alcoholic beverages by individuals under 21 years of age.
- Public intoxication, driving while intoxicated or illegal possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage.
The unauthorized possession, use, or sale of firearms, airguns, paintball guns, ammunition, fireworks, explosives or any lethal weapon, is strictly forbidden on campus and subject to college discipline as well as criminal charges. Approval for possession and use of firearms is limited to specific situations such as Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) supervised activities, Canisius Public Safety Officers engaged in their official duties, and commissioned law enforcement officers engaged in their official duties. All other possession or use must be authorized in writing by the Canisius College Director of Public Safety.
Canisius College complies with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and makes available information regarding campus security and personal safety. This includes information on crime prevention, public safety, law-enforcement authority, crime reporting polices, disciplinary procedures, and other important matters pertaining to security on campus. Statistics of reported crimes are made public for the three previous calendar years. These reports include crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Canisius College, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The Canisius College Advisory Committee on Campus Safety will provide upon request all campus crime statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education.
