“Canisius University’s New PA Program: The Inside Scoop with Director Aimee Larson” is Focus of Live Webinar at Canisius University

Buffalo, NY – The Office of Alumni Engagement at Canisius University will host its second in a series of live webinars on Thursday, November 19.  “Canisius University's New PA Program: The Inside Scoop with Director Aimee Larson” will take place from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. The webinar will feature Aimee Larson, MPAS, PA-C, clinical assistant professor and program director of the newly-accredited physician assistant (PA) studies program at Canisius. It will be moderated by Mark J. Lema ’71, MD, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Larson has extensive experience in the field of medicine.  From serving as a combat medic for the United States Air Force to her appointment as the practice administrator for Kinkel Neurologic Center in Buffalo, she went on to work as a physician assistant at D’Youville College where Larson received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physician assistant studies. Larson previously earned a bachelor of science in healthcare services from University of Phoenix. She has worked for a number of medical groups, with a focus in primary care and internal medicine, prior to her current role as director for the physician assistant studies program at Canisius. 

The physician assistant studies program at Canisius University received accreditation and program approval for the first cohort of students to begin in January 2021. The PA program is a 27-month master’s degree program comprised of two main phases: didactic and clinical training. The college’s state-of-the-art simulation labs and intimate cohort sizes set the program apart from others.
