Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Pathways

The pathways listed below link to undergraduate course maps for Biology Majors who intend to pursue a particular advanced degree related to medicine/health after their undergraduate education.

Because medical/health studies are biologically-based, post-bachelor's education programs, the Biology Major at Canisius University most readily and broadly fulfills the requirements for medical/allied health schools, preparing students through the pathways listed below. Please note that Pre-Medical or Pre-Health is not an undergraduate department or major; rather, course requirements for medical/allied-health schools are incorporated into each student’s program of study.

Additionally, Canisius University has a Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professional Office that works with students in coordination with all departments/majors to aid in the advanced degree program application process and ensure that all prerequisites are fulfilled for entry into those desired programs following graduation. Any Biology Major students potentially interested in future enrollment in an Allied Health program are strongly encouraged to contact Dr. Allyson Backstrom (Director of the Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professional Office) to learn more.
