Simone Jarmon '11
Buffalo, NY - A graduate of a technical high school, Simone was eager for a college that would provide a different kind of education. At Canisius, she soon discovered not just a career path, but a whole new level of confidence.
Majoring in education, she got her feet wet in the world of teaching starting her very first year. By the time she graduated, she had already had four different field placements at several area schools. As a direct result of one of her student-teacher placements, she secured her first teaching job even before graduation. Within a few years, she was ready for a new professional adventure. Nancy Wallace, Dean of the School of Education and Human Services—with whom she’d stayed in touch—contacted her about an exciting opportunity with a partner school in the Lone Star State. Simone decided to go for it.
Today Simone is the district literacy coach for the Aldine Independent School District, where she supports both students and parents. Though she calls Houston home, she’ll always be thankful to Buffalo—and Canisius—for launching her career.
