ABEC Student and Faculty Outreach

On campus, Joshua Russell, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, helps students engage their creative side to develop educational materials to promote conservation through a "Conservation Station." Campus community members and the public can learn about local conservation problems and what they can do to help.

With the help of Susan Margulis, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Animal Behavior, students that travel to the Lajuma Research Centre in South Africa work closely with undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Venda in northern South Africa, which offers an amazing scientific and cultural experience for students from both institutions. A visit to a local elementary school provides another opportunity for outreach and teaching. Independent research projects at the centre allow students to explore their interests in wildlife ecology.
