The Canisius Center for Analytics and Data Ecosystems (CCADE) invites faculty, staff, students, alumni and the general public to attend its Fall 2025 Research Seminar on Tuesday, September 30, at 5:00 p.m. in Old Main, Room 102. The seminar, titled "Creation of a Data-Driven Algorithm to Reduce Cataloging Backlogs," will feature presentations by Amy Wood, director of collections access and technology for the Center for Research Libraries and Edidiong Ibokete, CCADE Intern.
This seminar explores how artificial intelligence can be used to streamline cataloging processes in libraries. Presenters will discuss how smart matching ensures fairness, quality, and trust by pairing institutional needs with expertise and professional standards. As libraries nationwide face growing cataloging backlogs, this research offers promising solutions that could transform how institutions manage their collections while maintaining the high standards essential to library science.
As director of collections access and technology for the Center for Research Libraries, Amy Wood oversees the full scope of discovery and delivery services, including digitization, interlibrary loan, cataloging, collections management and collective action initiatives such as shared print programs and cooperative cataloging efforts.
Edidiong Ibokete is a data analytics graduate student at Canisius University. His experience focuses on geospatial intelligence and database management, and he has held roles in data analysis and database administration.
