SPA 399: Seminar in Argentina

In a semester-long program, Students are immediately immersed in Argentina’s history and culture through an exploration of Buenos Aires. Then, students move on to Mar del Plata, on the coast, to participate in a unique language learning setting at the University there. Over Winter Break 2016/2017, nine Canisius students participated in a 3-week study abroad at the National University of Mar del Plata. Before heading to this Argentinian beach town, students had an opportunity to visit some of the most emblematic places and neighborhoods in Buenos Aires such as Casa Rosada, Plaza de Mayo, Recoleta Cemetary, Puerto Madero, and La Boca. They also spent an afternoon in MALBA, The Latin American Museum of Buenos Aires, took a tour of the legendary Teatro Colón, and were taken on a graffiti tour around the northern Buenos Aires, a journey through recent Argentinian history and politics.
