Physical Education Faculty-Student Collaboration

NYS AHPERD Conference

The Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (P/HETE) program continues to host the spring conference for the Western Zone Conference of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYS AHPERD) annually.

This is a professional development opportunity for local educators and professionals in physical and health education, recreation, and dance. With approximately 150 participants each year alongside guest speakers and presenters, the conference provides P/HETE majors a chance to meet and network with area experts. All faculty and P/HETE majors attend and help in the organization of this event.

Teacher candidates in the P/HETE program are asked to submit a proposal and present at the conference. Students and faculty are using the Western Zone Conference as a spring-board for a presentation at the NYS AHPERD annual conference.
