Education Technologies & Emerging Media Field Experience

These field experiences give candidates the opportunity to work directly in a K-12 setting facilitating the use of technology in the classroom. All of the experiences below can be done at a candidate’s present place of employment. The college will also offer assistance to candidates finding a K-12 institution for the requirements below.

EDT 503: Educational Technologies and Emerging Media
Candidates will spend 10 hours in a classroom observing and meeting with an instructor to determine availability of instructional technology.

EDT 504: Integrating Technology in the Differentiated Classroom
Candidates will spend 10 hours in a classroom observing and meeting with an instructor to determine lesson plans or a unit plan which could benefit from technology.

EDT 505: Integrating Technology in Content Areas
Candidates will spend 10 hours meeting with an instructor or educational leader to determine the success of their lessons developed from EDT 504.

EDT 507: Transformational Leadership and Technology
Candidates will spend 10 hours interviewing a leader in educational technology, develop their plan, and present their plan in an authentic setting.

EDT 511: Practicum
This course is the culmination of the work throughout the program and will require candidates to complete a practicum of 90 hours working with a teacher or technology leader in the field. Candidates will be actively engaged using technology in lesson design and facilitating the site school in assessing and developing technology based learning opportunities.
