August 25, 2013

BUFFALO, NYArtsCanisius presents “SAT NAM” a studio art show featuring the work of Olean native Jesse Slattery in the college’s Peter A. and Mary Lou Vogt Gallery in the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library. An artist’s reception will be held on Friday, September 6 from 5 p.m. − 7 p.m. in the library.

“SAT NAM,” chronicles Slattery’s journey to motherhood and the miraculous process of a successful pregnancy and healthy birth after miscarriage and infertility issues. SAT NAM was Slattery’s mantra during her pre-natal yoga practice. One of the verbal translations is “I am truth. Truth is my name.” Her ideas are visually expressed mainly through mixed media including watercolor, photography and stream-of-consciousness method to drawing.

The exhibit continues through October 4 during regular library hours. For library hours, visit library.canisius.edu or call (716) 888-2900.
