Edward J. Garrity is Professor in the Marketing & Information Systems department in the Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Systems (Information Systems) and an MBA from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York and a BA in Environmental Science from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh.
Dr. Garrity has taught data management for over 25 years and his current teaching incorporates data analytics using Microsoft Power BI (Business Intelligence) and MS Excel Power Pivot.
Dr. Garrity’s teaching centers on management information systems, the strategic use of technology to help organizations to effectively enhance and deliver their strategic goals, deliver products and services efficiently and to help deliver broader societal goals related to environmental sustainability and social justice.
He has published research in Datamation, DATA BASE, Decision Support Systems, Encyclopedia of Computer Science, Encyclopedia of Information Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Heuristics, Information Resources Management Journal, the Journal of Management Information Systems, the Journal of Management Systems, The Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations, the International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Sustainability (MDPI), Systems (MDPI) and several book chapters. He has also co-authored a book of readings entitled “Information Systems Success Measurement,” published by Idea Group Publishing. His current research interests are sustainability, system dynamics and systems thinking, climate change, system resilience, and information systems success measurement.
