Carolyn Thompson

After receiving her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Syracuse University with a focus on Autism and Inclusive Education, Carolyn taught in a self-contained special education classroom in the Lancaster Central School District. While teaching in Lancaster she served as the Chairperson of the School Improvement Team and on various other committees. She eventually piloted Lancaster’s first inclusion classroom which led to the district embracing the inclusive classroom model. Carolyn began her time at Canisius University working as a student teaching supervisor. Over the years her role has grown to her current position as the Coordinating Supervisor in the SEHS department, mentor to students in the Teacher Resident program, student teaching supervisor, as well as teaching several courses in the department with a focus on Special Education classes. Carolyn has a passion for working with future teachers and helping them develop their full potential as educators.
